Location: Holly Ridge

Weather: 47 cloudy, slightly misty

Run time: 9:20

Age: Just over 2 hours

Track Design

Stair step with 60 yard legs.

Scent pads at 30 on legs 1, 2, 4

Articles at 30 on legs 3, 5, 7

Nothing on leg 6 because I forgot

Last leg ended at 30 because of the manure pile.

Clips in grass on turns.

Everything about this track was pretty perfect including:

  • Great start

  • Excellent turns

  • Good article indications

  • Strong woods entry

Only the last turn was a challenge but she worked it out. It was really close to the manure pile and ditch filled with a foot+ of scum water. So it was a challenging spot.

Old Saber was definitely back, which I was delighted to see.

Now we have to keep old Saber!!! Note: is it possible she finds tracks where ‘something happens’ (stairstep) more interesting than when things ‘don’t happen’ (loooong legs).

Way to test: 300 yd leg, 50, 50, 50, 300, 50, 50, 50. Does she tire like she did on the endurance track, or do the changes motivate her?
