Location: Judi's

Weather/Conditions: warm, overcast

Cover: Grass, woods

Age: 1 hr 20ish min

Tracklayer: Anne

Handler: Jen

Two turn track. Started in grass and entered the woods. Two turns in the woods creating a U and ending in the grass. Before entering the woods Saber got confused or frustrated or something caught her nose. In the woods she tracked well but wasn't directly on the track because she missed the article. Finished strong.

I love, maybe adore, the simple fact that Saber is learning to follow the track regardless of who is behind her. The value of that skill is proven again and agai—Seren and Vickie don’t care, and will work for anyone. Gusto, Jetta, Vicar, Parson, & Katie—all tracked regardless of who was on the lead. The goal is that your dog is 100% focused on the track….and that the handler can identify tracking behavior and reinforce it by following. Kelly and Valerie handling Seren, and Jen (brand new to tracking!!!) handling Saber, have illustrated this concept beautifully. Great training, great handling. Color me proud…..
