Saber

2- short tracks on asphalt 10 and 15 minutes old (at end of video, but run first). Both sprayed. the first had food every 10 steps the second every 15 steps.

A 250 yard track transitioning between grass, concrete and gravel dust aged 1 hour.

The first asphalt track was nothing to write home about. The second one I tried to start in the wrong direction. She corrected me and did a really nice job.

Transition track. Start and first turn were good. Second turn was on concrete and there was a lot to check out there. All sewers were cleared but the trash can was suspicious and got a second pat down. Saber's TSA application is in the works. I could see the loss of scent. She clearly told me every direction it did not go before taking the correct direction as a means of last resort. I praised her. She still would much rather check out the veg surfaces. She made the next turn but was drawn into the saw grass and got started to want to check more things out. I think this is a lack of confidence where in where she is going. She worked her way through the last turn and I would see her cross the track snap into it for a step or to and then want to check out something else. Again I think this is a response to it being hard.

I will probably do starts at the farm tomorrow for something easy. Maybe a well reenforced track that is 30 minutes or less on concrete somewhere. I think she needs a confidence boost.

Syd

Syd got a top hat with 4 - 50 yards and 1 - 100 yard leg. There was a scent pad with food 25 yards after the start and a 15 yards the 3rd turn (after the long leg).

Age: 45 minutes

There were things I really liked and things I could have done better. His start was decent. I see a lot of tracking behavior I really like and think he has an aptitude for it. I should have made Matt flag the turns. Even though I designed the track we are not ready to run a blindish track.

Now that hunting season is over, I think we will be able to track more consistently hopefully start to progress more.
